In response to the USA’s Consumer Products Safety Commission warning on the use of sling carriers and their subsequent recall of bag-type slings in March 2010, One Love would like to remind caregivers to exercise caution when choosing a carrier and to seek help when learning how to wear your baby. Whereas the bag-sling, which was recalled by the CPSC several days after issuing the warning due to suffocation of infants in the said sling, keeps the infant in a curled position bending the chin toward the chest and thus potentially restricting their airway and limiting oxygen supply, One Love mei tai carriers keep the infant in an upright position, similar to how an infant would be carried in-arms.
Babywearing is a skill that can be learned and, if done properly, brings numerous benefits to both the wearer and baby. Please do not hesitate to ask us for help on how to use your One Love mei tai. You should also check our Safety Tips and Online Instructions. Residents of Bangkok are also welcome to attend the Bangkok Babywearing Club(bangkok.babywearing.club[at]gmail.com) for more information and general help on babywearing.
